Dossier Preparation Service for an International Adoption 

   Completing an adoption dossier takes time and research. It is a daunting process that can be overwhelming even for seasoned adoptive parents. There are many parts of the adoption process that can be stressful. We believe completing your dossier should not be one of them.

Adobaby recognizes that each adoption is unique and coordinates each family’s services in order to meet their specific needs. Our goal at Adobaby is to prepare your dossier as quickly, and efficiently as possible. We achieve this by obtaining vital records, the preparation of personal and government documents, helping you complete any documents that only you can obtain, and providing unprecedented support during the completion of your dossier.

As a former International Program Coordinator for an international adoption agency, Adobaby’s Executive Director, Denise Hoppenhauer has been assisting families in preparing their dossier documents for more than four years. Adobaby has the only Dossier Preparation Service that specializes in the Russian Dossier.

When a dossier service is utilized, it reduces the amount of time it takes to complete the dossier and chances of error are greatly reduced.Each dossier is carefully proofread to ensure that the agency and country requirements have been met and that it is ready for submission. Whether you adopt from China, Guatemala, Panama, Russia, or any other country we can help.


At Adobaby we:

• Gather and organize your documents for your international adoption dossier.*
• Complete documents on your behalf. If your signature is required, they will be sent to you for signature.
• Coordinate with international adoption and home study agencies as needed to ensure international adoption dossier is completed correctly
• Obtain all of the following for each of your dossier documents, if required: Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Divorce Certificates, etc. 
• Act as the Notary Public for South Carolina issued documents
• Obtain state certification and apostilles for dossier.
• Provide instructions for obtaining authentication from country embassies and consulates.

*There are certain documents that only you; the client, can obtain. You will receive step by step instructions on how to complete.

Adobaby can work with families residing in any of the 50 states in the U.S. as well as U.S. Citizens residing abroad. In this age of Internet access it is no longer necessary to select an agency within close proximity of you home. Flexible hours and technology allows Adobaby’s staff members to answer your questions, offer technical support, and communicate with you whenever needed, no matter where you live.


Completed Documents
When the required documents have been gathered, the dossier is given a final thorough review for accuracy. Once the dossier is completed and ready for submission to your adoption agency, you will receive your dossier, along with the required copies, and a complete copy for your own records. If additional authentication is required, we provide instructions for obtaining authentication from country embassies and consulates.

Delays
Most dossiers are completed in 2-3 months. Unexpected delays relating to the completion of your dossier can occur at any time. Most often this is due to changes in the adoption procedure, bureaucratic delays in document processing or the completion of your homestudy.


Fees
Dossier Assistance Fees are determined by each country's dossier requirements, the number of documents required, and the estimated average amount of time needed to complete. Dossier Preparation Fees are calculated, provided in writing, and due prior to beginning the dossier.

Dossier Consultation or Partial Dossier Assistance (Updated)
Ideal for adoptive families who want to compile their own dossiers but need help. This service is customized to meet your needs. The initial consultation is usually done via phone or at the Greenville, South Carolina office. Once we determine how we can help, we provide you with the guidance or assistance needed to complete your dossier.

This may include providing you with the names, addresses, telephone numbers, websites, fees, or instructions needed to complete each step in the process, ordering vital stastics, or sending your dossier to be certified, apostilled, authenticated, etc. and reviewing your completed dossier for accuracy or making copies. 


Ordering Vital Records
Even if you are completing your own dossier, you will still need to order vital records. If you are not sure how to order vital records or if is simply a time management issue, we can help.

All you have to do is call or e-mail us the states involved, number and type of documents (marriage, birth, etc.) and we will give you a quote.  Our fee is $35.00 for documents originating in two states, and $5.00 per each addtional state, plus the exact cost of documents and estimated shipping.

This service includes ordering your vital stastics, writing checks/money orders to pay for, cost of shipping, and having them notarized and certifed or apostilled.  All you have to do is send us the info and write one check.  


Other
Prospective adoptive parents receive continued support for the duration of the adoption process. We at Adobaby,LCC are available to you via e-mail or telephone to answer all your questions. For information on Pre-Adoption Education- See class schedule.  

Additional Services for South Carolina residents include notarization of adoption documents at no charge and Emergency Courier Service to the South Carolina Secretary of State.
