About Us
Denise Harris Hoppenhauer is an Adoptive Parent and Adoption Advocate. She is the Author of Adopting a Toddler: What Size Shoes Does She Wear?, and Adopting a Daughter from China. Denise has had numerous adoption-related articles published in variety of medium, including Adoption Today Magazine.
Denise and her husband are the parents of two children adopted from Russia. She originally began working with adoptive families in a support group when she founded the Greenville Adoption Playgroup. Quickly recognizing the need for more pre-adoption education and post adoption support, she has since developed a curriculum of adoption classes which she teaches at St Francis in Greenville, SC.
Denise has previously worked as a Russian and China Program Coordinator for an International Adoption Agency. She is the 2003 receipt of the Dave Thomas Advocate of the Year Award from the South Carolina Council on Adoptable Children. And is a founding member of the Adoption Coalition for Education and Support (ACES) in South Carolina.
